I must say. Venezia is pretty good damn gorgeous. All the hype is true! I figured it would be crowded, noicy and in general pretty annoyingly full og tourists. It wasn't. Just go two or three streets to the right of th main streets from the train station to Piazza San Marco and you will find youself along adorable small channels, in small streets decorated with cute cats, people's laundry and the odd local italian. I simply love this city. We went there a while ago and I might start the presentation by showing the main thing. The place all tourists inevitably visits.
Piazza San Marco with the infamous crowd of tourists. Tourism would be much better if it wasn't for all the other tourists.

A different view of the piazza. This one shows the other side of the square and in the background is the church after which the piazza is named.

As for a different thing that all tourists see here is the biggest channel Canale Maggiore. In the front is one of the watertaxis and on the sides you can see the famous gondols.

Oh, and this is me with Canale Maggiore as a backdrop.

As for the gondols there sometimes actually are traffic jams of gondols. Who would have thought?

Earlier in the day the channels are more quiet. I guess tourists don't go for their gondolrides this early.

This is what I mean with charmin small channels filled with peace and quiet.

And this is what I'm talking about when talking about charmin little streets with the odd local inhabitant. I could live here.

The famous carnival of Venezia is in february and you can be sure that I will return to this beatiful city for this event. Susana is a big fan of the traditional dresses worn at the carnival. I guess you can tell by her smile.

And finally I may present to you the travelling erasmus students. From left to right:
Hannelore(Belgium), Susana(Catalonia), Marta(Spain), Mireia(Catalonia) and I(Norway).
It's here. I can update! Well, it's not my good old trusted computer. The postal service have smashed my computer (it was actually in pieces), so I had to invest in almost everything new. Luckily my harddrives still work
Now for the first of many updates to come here:
This small lake in a small central park in Bergen is very beautiful during summer. The city of Bergen is struggling to pay back money spent on old sins (debts), and thus didn't have money to spend on fountains and flowers in the city. This led to local merchants and companies instead sponsoring this. The fountain was this year sponsorded by
BKK. Oh, and the name of the lake is "Lille Lungegårdsvann" or just "Lillelungen", meaning the small lung.
Apart from the numerous small shopping malls in the center of the city this is the main place to go shopping for clothes. The street also houses two of my favorite stores. A shop for paint, paper, pencils etc. for the visually creative and the biggest bookstore in the city. I love bookstores. The name of the street is "Strandgaten". "The Beachstreet". This picture was taken after my last day working in Dolly Dimple's. The restaurant where I spent around half of my waking hours the last three years.
Summer in Norway can be beautiful. In Bergen it rains 260 days a year. This means that when the sun finally comes and the weather is warm, there will be almost no people in shopping malls or restaurants. People barbeque in the parks, on the mountains surrounding Bergen (most commonly Fløien) and in general head for the sea if lucky enough to have that option. Bergen is situated at the seaside so we surely can enjoy life when these times occur. This summer started slow, being cold and wet, but eventually we got what we deserved. These are the best of times. At sea in the sun.
Kim and I know how to fish. It's not the fish that matters, but the actual relaxing. We did get enough fish for at least 3-4 dinners for all four of us, though.
This trip to the sea (we do as many as we can) was after a long period of warm weather and so the temperature in the water was lovely (20C). Petter, our spiderloving friend and generally good guy, also knows how to enjoy life.
And so do I. I love the sea more than anything and it is what I miss most now that I am in Bologna. A city safely placed in the middle of northern Italy.
Kim, as usual, does a good job of taking pictures of us. If nothing else this picture captures the general energy and spirit that rules our moods when we head for the sea.
Looking like the five year old I actually feel like under these circumstances this picture is another favorite of mine from the trip.
The best picture of them all. I just love the satisfied look on Kåre's face as he plays this innocent and childish prank on Petter.
We took a lot more pictures and some of them are in the process of being added to the
album. Feel free to pop in.
